Cati Landry returns in 2025 with a dreamy, melancholic ballad for the lonely hearts club. “Overdrive” is an aching confession of love and loss, written during a time of processing grief and feeling the emotions crash like waves. Cati describes the sentiment behind this song as “watching the sunset and wishing you could just go to where the horizon meets the sky,” surrendering to your sensitivities and overwhelm.
“Overdrive” is a bleeding-heart testimony to what it’s like to live in the aftermath of a personal tragedy, underscored by haunting steel guitar and lit up in sunset hues. Anyone who has experienced feeling so deeply can painfully relate to the concept of “Overdrive,” feeling flooded by the immense hurt, holding on for a glimmer of hope in the distance.
Cati opens up about the process of writing this track, recalling, “Sometimes we lose something or someone, and it feels so big and grand-scale that it’s almost a private apocalypse, making you feel disconnected from life around you. Alone in your inner world, you’re in distress, but there’s this devastating faultline or fracture between the space you’re in and the present reality. Try as you might, you can’t reason or explain that type of pain away, or maybe even fully understand it. You want to run towards the horizon line or scream into the sky to get a sign, because it feels bigger and more powerful than you are.
When I was living in that every day, my heart would sometimes go into overdrive, and so this is a song about trying to learn to live with that. It’s a pure confession of everything pent up that I’d been feeling.”

Ethereal indie folk singer-songwriter Cati Landry laces her music with an effortless sense of mystical, serene, and windswept romance. Born and raised on Vancouver Island in the Pacific Northwest of Canada, Miss Landry grew up on stage, spending her formative years singing in old theatres full of velvet curtains and ghost stories. When she wasn’t performing, she could be found by the beach, getting lost in fantasy worlds while crafting poems and dreamlike lullabies. This imaginative ritual led her to write songs and sing in various bands, eventually performing atjazz clubs, bars, and theatres.
Cati’s songwriting is packed with vivid imagery reflecting her studies in literature, the Victorian era, and American transcendentalism at The University of Victoria. She most recently spent a year studying Songwriting at Berklee College of Music, immersing herself in the process of writing & recording her new material, including her popular single, “Mind’s Eye,” recorded live with a band in Los Angeles.
