ALIE's new single, "Closer To Losing," goes deep on the fear of losing a loved one, getting older, and having uncertainty creep in. Her songwriting and emotional resonance are unlike many young artists today.
Starting off with writing poetry and stories in her hometown’s bedroom in Lille, France, ALIE knew from a very young age that she wanted to create. She first started a garage-rock trio, released an EP, and played several shows with her band, including two at the SUPERSONIC in Paris, before their collaboration eventually came to an end. ALIE then moved to New York to study cinema, where she wrote and directed two short films. Back in France, she began writing songs again and decided to pursue her career as a solo artist, aiming to blend her love for cinema with music.
“Closer to Losing” is a reflection on grief and the fear of losing loved ones, a deeply personal journey for ALIE. It’s a testament to her desire to create music that feels organic and alive. With the raw sound of acoustic guitars, harmonica, and banjo, ALIE delivers an indie folk song that’s more than just a song - it’s a living, breathing entity. Her emotive lyrics, sung with a buttery, folky vocal, express a sentiment many can relate to: “I can’t help but think about what conversation will be the last, am I gonna say the words?” Find yourself drawn into the emotional depth of this beautifully heartbreaking track.
Through catchy and bubbly sounds, she reflects on past trauma and her personal experiences with emotional and raw lyrics. Influenced by artists such as Clairo, Phoebe Bridgers, and Big Thief, she enjoys exploring diverse genres and sounds, blending elements of pop rock, surf rock, and folk.
With an EP and two singles out, ALIE has gained fans all around the world with 40K monthly listeners on Spotify as well as 300K streams on her “Take on Me” cover released in February.
